ABOUT GARDENESQUE TOURS

Gardenesque puts the glamour back into travel. We specialise in tours that focus on gardens, fashion and style, and architecture and design. However, our tours are really about people. They're made for those who love great company. Our tours are designed for people aged between 35 and 70, with the average age being 45 - 60. We encourage all kinds of travellers, from couples to solo travellers, friends to families, with the only requirements being that you like meeting people, have a reasonable level of fitness (or love walking), and have some tolerance and patience (because travel can sometimes be arduous). Most of all, we encourage an upbeat, positive, cheerful, and convivial attitude. After all, travelling is, as we said, as much about the people you meet and the exchanges you have as the sights you see.

  • All of our tours involve small, friendly groups (no more than 15 or 20), so we can travel in mini coaches down small country lanes, where large buses can’t go.
  • Itineraries are slow and enjoyable, and include plenty of free time to rest or explore on your own.
  • All tours require a moderate level of fitness. Every tour involves walking, which is the best way to see a place up close. Please bring comfy shoes!
  • Hotels can make or break a trip, so we've taken a lot of time to find ones with gorgeous interior design, superb locations, and great service.
  • Our itineraries draw on knowledge gleaned from insiders who have travelled widely, and have often lived in the destinations we visit. We're also tapped into a wonderful international network of creative professionals who know where all the best places are. In addition, most tours feature talks from local lecturers, to offer a deeper perspective into local gardening, design, culture, or way of life.
  • Our tours don't just include gardens and gorgeous design. We'll also take you off the beaten track to experience incredible places, including out of the way villages, charming coastal hamlets, sublime city neighbourhoods and exceptional island hideaways. We'll take you to places that are difficult to find on your own, or may not have even known about.
  • Our tours are designed to be memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and we will do everything possible to make them special for you.

A FEW TESTIMONIALS...

I am now back home and have had time to reflect on all the lovely gardens we visited and the huge enjoyment that I had with such a wonderful group of people.  Upon arrival it all fell into place and all your hard work in organising and sourcing the tour was much much appreciated.  Such great memories of vibrant and fun people.  It was the tour of a lifetime and I do hope you will consider doing further tours.  Thank you. Christine

Thank you for organising the most wonderful tour; really it was one of the very best holidays that I have ever had in my life.  The hotel was wonderful, and my room was just lovely. The day of Hidcote and Kiftsgate was a fabulous day culminating in that sensational dinner at the Wheatsheaf Inn, all bathed in beautiful, golden light. Paula

I just want to take this moment to thank you for putting on the tour.  I can only imagine the enormous amount of work that went into the planning and execution. In my eyes it was perfection. Anyway, I just had to let you know that I loved it and thought you covered every base and then some.  Again, thank you. Janet

I just want to thankyou and let you know how much I appreciated the tour.  I think we were treated to a very special trip that I will treasure for ever. I felt very lucky to be apart of  wonderful itinerary. I think we had some really fun, memorable times. I will be forever grateful for giving us a trip of a lifetime and being able to do and see some of those things on my bucket list! Trina

Our garden tour was beyond expectations. I can't believe the gardens we were able to visit, the guides that made them even more special. I loved our hotel and thought the service was excellent. I found a wonderful watercolor poster for the Chelsea Flower Show at Potterton Books that I took to the framers today. Just another reminder of our wonderful experiences in London. I wish I had the words to fully express my appreciation for all that you did to make our trip to London and surrounding areas the wonderful experience that we  will remember forever. Thank you.  Linda

I'd like to thank you very much for the wonderful garden tour.  I'd like you to know how much I appreciated all the thought and hard work you put into creating a truly wonderful experience.  All the gardens were so amazing in their own way.  You also brought together a wonderful group of people.  I think it was a great experience for all of us and I certainly had a fabulous time! I'd never have had the opportunity to see such beautiful places or meet such interesting people if it hadn't been for your tour!  Pamela

I just wanted to send you a note to thank you for the opportunity to participate in the inaugural tour.  I had a wonderful time and without you I wouldn’t have made it to some of the gardens we saw that were on my bucket list.  I have done a quick  look at my photos that I downloaded yesterday and it amazes me how much we did and how much we saw and of course more importantly all of the fantastic people that I met.In unpacking my suitcase I came across all of the wonderful travel notes and the itinerary that you put together and also would like to thank you for the time you spent putting it together for us.  It truly was a wonderful time. Rose

Not a day goes by when I don't think fondly about the garden tour - it really was a fantasy tour and I feel so lucky that I went on it.  To me it was a complete success - everything I imagined and more. Victoria.

How ironic to hear from you this evening!  You must have known I was thinking about you this very afternoon.  When I reflect on 2013, our ‘little jaunt' to London and Paris were without question the highlight of my year!  You will never know how very grateful Mom and I are to you for the experience of a lifetime.  A day barely passes when we don’t mention a tidbit about something we experienced during our wonderful garden tour. Leslie

Even though I came down with quite a serious respiratory problem (which has never happened before) I made sure I savoured every minute of our tour. My gorgeous folks gifted me the funds to attend this trip of a life time which made it even more special! So I was determined to record every minute! I took over 1200 photos, thankfully as some have filled in the gaps of some of my more hazy moments. Linda

I am finally back home and have caught up...but I think I would rather still be in London!! I wanted to thank you so much for such a wonderful time and a trip that will stay in my memory for ever. As I was unpacking, I came across all the things you had organised for us, the welcome pack and the wonderful information on the itinerary and the tips for exploring London in our little green book. I never would have done all these things without you. Trina and I had the most amazing time and enjoyed it all so very much. The months of hard work you put in, and I know you did just from what we all did on the tour, were certainly worthwhile from my point of view. I think it was the trip of a lifetime and thank you for that. Kerry
